The clock ticks down on the scoreboard
and the Generals are behind. It’s
the Homecoming game against Tigard
and expectations are high. The stands
are fi lled with Grant supporters and varsity
football coach Diallo Lewis stands
on the sidelines, his hands on his head
in frustration as the seconds tick down
to half time. When the buzzer sounds,
his hands drop to his sides and he stands
tall and fi erce, waiting for his players to
surround him. “In here guys,” He shouts,
and his voice booms across the fi eld. His
team hustles to obey, clustering about him
as they head for the locker room, grim
looks on their faces. This halftime talk
isn’t going to be sugarcoated. |

If you haven’t noticed Tristan Irving around Grant yet, you will soon. His hi-top fade hair cut, heavy black-rimmed yellow-tinted glasses, and bright white smile easily set him apart from the crowd. However, as a recent transfer, Irving has plans to bring more than just a unique vintage style to Grant. An avid follower of the early Black Panther ideals, he hopes to organize a group of “Black Generals” like him who believe in the philosophies of racial equality the group initially set ablaze in the 1960s. |

Forgot your ID card? Good luck trying to check out a book from the school library. The library does not accept just an ID number when checking out a book. Since many students lose their ID cards, or forget to bring them to school, a problem has arisen when it comes to checking out textbooks or novels.
