For those of you who didn't hear
about it, which may be many of you, Earth Hour happened over spring
break. Across the globe on March 29, from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. people
turned their lights out as a statement and action promoting energy
awareness and conservationism, hence the name Earth Hour. In the
states, there were rallies and events, and even bridges like the
Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco dimmed their lights. In other
words, this was a huge deal in the Green Revolution.
Guess who missed out? We did. |

Paintbrushes, clay, cameras, and
canvases are what you would expect to see in a high school art class,
but on March 18 and 19 the AP Art Studio class was invaded by robots.
The first day of the two-day class the students learned basic
programming techniques and the parts of the LEGO NXT robot. The
second day was focused on using their new skills to create art. The
students approached the project in several different ways and each
group came up with a unique program and piece of art.

The Grant Tennis is one of the most
under-recognized sports in the school, for being so successful. The
team has won the district title three out of the last four years.
Head Coach Brian Hendrickson, with the help of first year assistant
coaches Chris Osaka and Ry Koteen, has been working his team nicely
for years.
So far this year, Grant has had a rocky
start but overall has had a promising season and has high hopes of
winning the district title for 2008. |

Students in Don Gavitte's 6th
period philosophy class on March 20 were shocked to discover that the
face of Jesus Christ had appeared, in a glorious chalk portrait, on
the back of Gavitte's jacket.
"Basically every day Gavitte gets
chalk all over the back of his jacket," said sophomore Jennifer
Witt. "But today, it was different." Students report that
Gavitte had been addressing his class for about 15 minutes, with his
back against his chalkboard. When he turned around to write something
on the board, the face of Jesus Christ was clearly outlined on his
jacket. "I took my jacket off and BOOM! There it was. Jesus'
face, on my jacket, mmkay?" said Gavitte. Gavitte and his
students were so shocked by the event that everyone sat in awe for
about three minutes, before Gavitte quietly whispered, "Woah."
Some students claim they saw light emitting from the jacket as well,
although this is currently under dispute. |

This week, Grant High School's
administration revealed their discovery of an unwelcome student, a
29-year-old male who remains anonymous. The student, who had been
posing as a freshman in the U.S. community and attending classes at
Grant for three months before his recent discovery.
"We're concerned that he
posed a threat to the safety of Grant students," a Grant
administrator who wished to remain anonymous said. "We want to
extend our concern to the Grant community, who may feel as if their
safety has been threatened."
Though the administration has requested
that the student not return to class, there are some who aren't
so anxious to see him go.
"It was astonishing to hear that
he was 29, but hey, we really enjoyed having him here. |
