Much to the delight of hip-hop aficionados everywhere, Grant High School alum and rising star J-Bellz has recently teamed up with classroom legend MC Mr. Cobb for a musical collaboration that will likely soon be a mainstay on local airwaves. The new single, titled “Carmelo Anthony is the Best Basketball Player in the NBA, and Possibly One of the Best Players to Ever Grace the Game With His Presence,” is the first track off of MC Mr. Cobb’s upcoming debut album, aptly named You Don’t Pay Attention, You Go To Detention, Wassup?

While some savvy listeners have suspected a collaboration for some time, J-Bellz assures fans that the duo is nothing more than a product of sheer luck, courtesy of a chance encounter at a local McDonald’s. “Yeah, me and some homies was just chillin,’ eating our Quarter Pounders, when one of Cobb’s friends was like ‘Yo Bellz! My homie wants to battle you!’, and I just couldn’t say no”. J-Bellz readily accepted the challenge, only to face an onslaught of crafty rhymes and unique flows. “I was jus’ like ‘****, this boy’s spittin’ some heat!’” says J-Bells of that first encounter.

Fortunately, it didn’t take long for the two talented artists to recognize the potential of a joint project. “After we met up, we really just started clickin,’ you know, bondin’ over our love for Carmelo and words that rhyme with dawg,” says J-Bellz enthusiastically. Mr. Cobb agrees, declaring that “Me and J-Bellz got lots of time, to spit dope verses and rhymes, check it out.”

While the single has yet to be released, early feedback is unanimously positive. “Yo, that **** is some straight crack," says fellow Grant rapper Young Milc of the project. “MC Mr. Cobb is definitely on my radar for future projects.” While anticipation remains high for the single, MC Mr. Cobb and J-Bellz are already looking ahead to the future. “Yeah, Cobb’s my n***a! We already got some **** up our sleeves, y’all best be excited for what we got cookin’ in the kitchen,” said J-Bellz when asked about the possibility of any other future collaborations. MC Mr. Cobb concurs, saying “Yo Carmelo Carmelo, yeah that’s right, listen up dawg, don’t you start a fight!” Honestly, we don’t really know what that means. Regardless, keep your ears open for this- upcoming musical masterpiece, for it’s sure to break the barriers of stereotypical hip-hop music.
